Derek Draper said he had "fallen in love all over again" with his wife Kate Garraway - just months before his life tragically changed and became not only his wife but one of his full-time carers.

The Good Morning Britain presenter announced on Friday (January 5) that her husband had tragically died. Derek, just 56, was a former Labour lobbyist-turned-psychotherapist.

He contracted coronavirus in March 2020 and was taken to hospital where he was put in an induced coma. He spent just over a year in hospital before returning home to Kate and their children - Darcy and Billy - in April 2021 and needed round-the-clock care ever since due to the damaging effects the virus had on his body.

Good Morning Britain star Kate has since chronicled Derek's recovery journey through her TV appearance, two documentaries for ITV and her books.
