Derek tragically died from the complications of coronavirus, after first getting ill back in March 2020. Last month, he suffered a heart attack before passing away last week, leaving behind his wife Kate and their children Darcey and Billy.
On Good Morning Britain today, Kate's usual co-host Ben Shephard returned on screen for the first time since Derek died and updated viewers on his friend.
Ben told fans that Kate and the family were in the "next stages" following Derek's passing. He also shared a sweet conversation that Kate had with her daughter Darcey just yesterday when she told her she needed to go and register the death, writes The Mirror.Ben said: "They are in the next stages of working out what happens; there's a lot of admin to do when you lose someone.
