A top detective says a young man was "attacked and killed for no reason" at the weekend as an investigation into the suspicious death was launched.
Police say the 23-year-old was walking along St Margaret's Avenue in Dalry last night when he was attacked by a man just after 9pm.Detective inspector Stephen McCulloch, Saltcoats CID, is leading the investigation and said that the youngster appeared to have been "attacked and killed for no reason".A number of people rushed to the man's aid while paramedics raced to the scene but the victim couldn't be saved.The attacker has been described as being white and wearing a dark jacket.DI McCulloch added: "This young man would appear to have been attacked and killed for absolutely no reason other than
