A woman who weighted just three stone when she died was the victim of a ‘catastrophic collision of failures’, according to a top coroner.
Nichola Lomax, who had been diagnosed with an eating disorder for over 18 years, died in hospital due to liver complications which arose due to ‘neglect’.
The 36-year-old, who also suffered from anorexia and bulimia, was discharged from hospital three times prematurely in the months prior to her death on August 3 2020.
Senior coroner Joanne Kearsley, who oversaw the inquest into Lomax’s death has blasted NHS services following the findings of the case.
