Woman arrested after newborn baby found alive in plane toilet bin

A woman has been arrested after a newborn baby was found dumped in a toilet bin of an aeroplane. The 20-year-old is currently in police custody, suspected of being the child's mother, despite her initial denials.

The woman was a passenger on the flight from Madagascar, where she is reportedly from, to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius on New Year's Day.

The baby boy was discovered after airport staff carried out a routine inspection of the plane cabin and he was rushed to hospital, according to the BBC.
