A windfarm developer wants to build taller turbines in the Glenkens.Energiekontor UK already has permission for eight turbines with a maximum height of 150 metres at Cornharrow near Dalry.However, it now wants to reduce that number by one but is also seeking permission for the remaining seven turbines to be up to 180m tall.Documents lodged with the council claim the change would increase the energy produced each year by the development from a predicted 119 gigawatt hours to 145.Because the new turbines would be above 150m tall, aviation rules mean they would have to be lit at night.In their comparative environmental impact assessment report the firm acknowledges this is an “additional significant effect” compared to what it has currently
