Burna Boy has teamed up with YouTube to stream an intimate one-off concert he did in London for the fifth anniversary of ‘African’ Giant’.Earlier this month July 15, the Nigerian superstar took over the 1000-capacity KOKO in Camden, performing tracks from his highly acclaimed fourth album as well as his debut single ‘Like To Party’ and latest single ‘Higher’.The performance followed his recent historic debut on the Pyramid stage at this year’s Glastonbury and second sold-out London Stadium gig.Throughout his 45-minute set, he was accompanied by a live band and string quartet playing renditions of ‘African Giant’s biggest hits, including ‘Gum Body’, ‘Dangote’, ‘Gbona’ and more. Burna Boy made a reported $12million from eight concerts.The figures were shared by ChartsAfrica on X (formerly Twitter), and showed that the Nigerian singer-songwriter is responsible for eight of the 10 highest-grossing concerts by an African artist over the past two years.The figures took into consideration his eight shows across 2022 and 2023, and revealed that the gigs brought in approximately $11.8million (£9.31m).Gigs taken into account included his slot at La Defense Arena in Paris, which brought in $2.86million, his slot at Madison Square Garden ($1.58m), Ziggo Dome in the Netherlands ($1.56m) and Capital One Arena in the US ($1.43m).Other shows featured his slot at The O2 in London ($1.35m) as well as more US shows at BMO Stadium ($1.22m), State Farm Arena ($905,024), and Oakland Arena ($885,278).The remainder of the Top 10 list includes both of Wizkid’s shows at Madison Square Garden, which brought the artist a combined $1.95 million.However, as reported by Business Day, the figures aren’t to imply that Burna Boy went home with the full amount calculated, as that figure will have been split to cover costs from his team, the venues, promoters, marketing and tax laws.The outlet also draws attention to a report from The Guardian, which tallied out the various deductions from artists’ touring incomes – noting that taxes account for between five and 35 per cent, and public performance royalties count for just under one per cent.

Burna Boy‘s scheduled live show in South Africa has been cancelled due to a fraud claim against one of its organisers.The Nigerian artist had been set to perform at the 90,000-capacity FNB Stadium in Johannesburg last Saturday (September 23), but the gig was shelved in the days leading up to it amid rumours of poor ticket sales (via IQ).But promoter Ternary Media Group has since claimed that it called off the concert after CEO Sedote Nwachukwu was accused of stealing R10m (£435,000) from the company.“Due to pending legal proceedings relating to an upcoming Burna Boy concert in Johannesburg, the event has been postponed,” a spokesperson for the firm said, per Times Live.Ternary Media Group said it has relieved Nwachukwu of his duties “until further notice” amid the allegations made by his business partner Gregory Wings.Nwachukwu has denied stealing the money, and has made a counter-claim against Wings.Speaking to Sowetan Live, Nwachukwu claimed: “The event in total sold almost over 20,000 tickets but Greg took 6,000 of the 11,000 tickets sold by Ticketpro.“I am being told that he went around selling and distributing them at night clubs and campuses.

Burna Boy has shared his thoughts on the Afrobeats genre, criticising it for lacking any “substance”.The Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer made the comments in a new interview with Apple Music.
