Wigan Hospital A&E 'extremely busy' as bosses urge anyone with minor issues not to come

It is the second time in two weeks that health officials in the borough have pleaded with the public to avoid the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary if possible.

They say emergency services are currently 'extremely busy' and have asked for only those with emergencies or life-threatening conditions to attend.
