A bumper crop of polls are being held on May 6, which has been dubbed 'Super Thursday', after the coronavirus pandemic delayed the votes scheduled for 2020.
In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, those who want to cast their vote in person are being asked to wear a face covering side the polling station, and bring their own pen or pencil to use.
There will still be pencils available to those who forget. But why are polling stations traditionally stocked with pencils instead of pens?
