A man has been shot dead by police responding to an incident in Westminster, central London. Police say they were called to the scene around half an hour before midnight on Sunday.
Unconfirmed reports say the shooting took place on Northumberland Avenue, which runs between The Embankment and Trafalgar Square in the very centre of the city.
A police cordon is in place across the street and officers remain at the scene while investigations continue. Daily Star Online has approached the Met Police for comment.
The force tweeted: "A man has been shot dead by officers following an incident in Westminster at 11.27pm on Sunday, March 8. "This is not being treated as a terrorist incident. "Officers remain on scene and updates will follow.
