Warning over DVLA scam after family robbed of £1k in benefits

Callous fraudsters robbed a family of £1,000 in welfare payments. Fiona Atkin is warning others of cyberscams after her brood fell victim to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency ( DVLA ) scam.

The mum-of-three's husband, Dell, received a text reportedly from the DVLA offering him a 'vehicle rebate', the Liverpool Echo reports.

Dell was put through to a 'government website' where he entered information including his National Insurance number and bank details.Upon checking the site a second time, he realised it was dodgy.The family, from Widnes in Liverpool, were told Dell's details were used to claim Universal Credit (UC).Their regular benefits were frozen, meaning the family lost out on around £1,000.Credit card cloning, or "skimming"
