Vulnerable Scots OAP robbed of cash by cruel bogus caller in water supply check scam

Clydebank home. The scammer arrived at her property in Dumbarton Road at around 11.30am on Tuesday, May 18, and claimed he was there to check her water supply.

The 84-year-old allowed the man inside but later discovered the cash had been stolen before calling police. Officers have released a description of the fiend in a bid to identify him while warning others to be on their guard.The suspect, who spoke with a Scottish accent, is described as being in his 60s, of average build and wearing a dark blue jacket.Detective Constable Thomas O'Donnell, of Clydebank CID, said: "It's disappointing that these incidents continue to take place and it saddens us that vulnerable people fall prey to these types of scams.The Daily Record and Sunday Mail.
