Disgraced ex-FIFA chief Sepp Blatter has suggested that the United States could replace Qatar as hosts of the 2022 World Cup after new allegations surfaced alleging both Russia and Qatar offered bribes to ensure they were awarded the tournament.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Justice issued an indictment alleging that the two nations paid bribes to FIFA officials to secure their votes.
According to the indictment, former FIFA vice-president and president of CONCACAF Jack Warner, former Brazilian Football Confederation president Ricardo Teixeira and former president of CONMEBOL Nicolas Leoz were "offered or received bribes" in exchange for their votes.
