A university student has avoided jail after admitting he sexually assaulted a girl. Mahdi Alishieshi, 20, was hauled before a judge for the offences involving the child, when she was aged 11 or 12.

She told officers how she had been sexually assaulted by Alishieshi. Manchester's courts are some of the busiest in the country with a vast array of cases heard every week.
