Britain will be split down the middle today with heavy rain across many parts of the North while the South enjoys mild, sunny weather.
But temperatures are set to plummet later in the week, with the Met Office forecasting "rather cold" conditions from Thursday to Sunday.
The mercury will drop to just 2C in northern England and reach freezing in Scotland. And even in London, temperatures will drop to a chilly 4C later in the week.
It comes as forecasters predict a colder-than-average December due to "Arctic influxes" which could bring temperatures as low as -5C.
