UK Government’s most senior civil servant has stepped down following reports of clashes with Boris Johnson's top adviser Dominic Cummings.
Mark Sedwill was previously appointed cabinet secretary and national security adviser by Theresa May.His decision to quit comes amid Cummings’ continual criticism of the civil service, with the Prime Minister's aide claiming government bureaucracy is not nimble enough to deliver change.Last week it was reported he warned that a "hard rain is going to fall" when speaking about the civil service.The departure of Sedwill is expected to be part of a wider shake up of officials at the heart of power.
