Two sisters who spent their childhoods chained up in a "House of Horrors" alongside their 11 siblings said they nearly died "so many times" that it was "now or never" when they eventually escaped.
Jordan Turpin was 17 when she was able to make a desperate bid for freedom and call police, describing how she and the other children were beaten, starved and shackled to their beds by parents David and Louise Turpin at their Californian home.
When officers responded to her plea for help, Jordan was so emaciated from years of starvation that authorities initially thought she was just 10-years-old, according to the Mirror.
