Four years after Jordan Turpin, Jennifer Turpin, and their eleven other siblings were rescued from their parents’ abusive home, the sisters got a chance to thank one of the men who helped them stay strong while imprisoned in the “House of Horrors.” “I had a Garth Brooks DVD collection while living through hell,” Jennifer, 33, captioned a series of photographs and videos taken from The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour concert at San Diego’s Petco Park. One of the photos was of Jennifer alongside Garth and his wife, country superstar Trisha Yearwood. “When D & L were gone, I’d sneak and play it on our television. Thank you, @garthbrooks, for being a light through our darkness,” added Jennifer.

Jordan and her sister Jennifer will speak out about what they endured, and their escape in a 20/20 ABC News special with Diane Sawyer, that will air on Friday November 19.

After police raided their California home in 2018, David, 60, and Louise Turpin, 53, were sentenced to life in prison in 2019, after the pair were discovered to have held their 13 children captive, and they were found to be malnourished. The couple were discovered after two of their children escaped in 2018 and one managed to call the police. Never-before-seen footage taken inside the Turpin family home is giving viewers a glimpse at the torture the 13 children of David and Louise Turpin had to endure for decades while being held captive. In the trailer for the upcoming ABC 20/20 special, which is about the abuse the Turpin parents bestowed upon their kids inside their California residence, police officers’ body cameras show them walking into the house and discovering two of the kids shackled to their beds by what appeared to be chains or handcuffs. “Sarge, we’ve got another room in the front right here with two kiddos in the bed,” one of the officers says in the video.
