David and Louise Turpin‘s 13 children were rescued from their abuse in Jan. 2018, after Jordan Turpin managed to escape from the California home she and her siblings were kept in, but it turns out they may have endured more abuse when they were turned over to foster care and/or a public guardian. A new investigation from ABC News claims that the kids were part of a broken system, and a few county officials looking to expose how the government “failed these victims” are speaking out.

Jordan Turpin, the now-21-year-old daughter of David and Louise Turpin, infamously climbed out the window of the family’s home in California when she was 17 years old, and ran away to call the police.

Jordan Turpin has been lauded as a hero ever since she saved her 12 siblings from their parent’s “house of horrors” several years ago. Jordan, then 17, and her siblings were prisoners in David and Louise Turpin‘s home in Perris, California, where they suffered horrific abuse.

In 2018, David and wife Louise Turpin became household names after one of their 13 children escaped their family home — described as a “house of horrors” — in Perris, California. Daughter Jordan, then 17, crawled through a window and called 911 on her parents, exposing a life of horrific abuse and maltreatment. In a home covered with filth, mold, and garbage, the police found beaten and starved children, some of which were shackled onto beds.

Years after Jordan Turpin, 21, made her escape from her family home to call the police on her parents, David, 60, and Louise Turpin, 53, the girl who bravely ran away at 17 to make the call is speaking out in an upcoming ABC 20/20 special with Diane Sawyer. Jordan was one of 13 kids that the couple shared, twelve of whom were being held captive in the family’s home in abusive conditions, including being malnourished and chained to their beds. While the children’s identities have been well-protected, a little bit more has been made known about them through their parents’ trial and the upcoming special.
