Scots jail chiefs have confirmed that two prisoners died at separate jails on Christmas Day. Paul Gorman passed away on December 25 while serving a sentence at HMP Kilmarnock.
The 52-year-old was caged after being convicted at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in 2019. Police have been informed and the circumstances of his death will be examined at a Fatal Accident Inquiry at a later date.
Brian Johnstone also died on Christmas while behind bars at HMP Edinburgh.The 45-year-old was serving his time after being convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh in 2008.His death, which was also reported to police, will also be examined at a court hearing in the future as is the case with all deaths in custody.A statement from the Scottish Prison Service
