Drivers on their way to Edinburgh were left bewildered and delayed in equal measure after a skip lorry became wedged underneath a bridge on Friday.
Edinburgh Live reports the lorry lodged itself in the ceiling of the bridge at around 7am on the A7 Old Dalkeith Road, between the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass and Danderhall.
The bridge has a 4.6m (15ft 3ins) height restriction. Pictures and video shared on social media showed that the skips on the lorry's flatbed had appeared to collide with the bridge, bringing the entire vehicle to a halt.
The front wheels of the truck were seen to be off the ground altogether. Police and recovery services raced to the scene while road network monitor Traffic Scotland urged commuters to avoid the area.
