Mercedes driver arrested on suspicion of drink driving after M6 crash leaves woman with 'serious' injuries

A man has been arrested after a three-car smash on the M6, close to the border of Trafford and Warrington. The 47-year-old from Chorley, who was driving a white Mercedes AMG, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

It follows a collision involving the Mercedes, a red dropside lorry, and a black Nissan Qashqai, on the Thelwall Viaduct During the crash, which took place between junction 20 and 21 of the southbound carriageway, just before 2pm, the Nissan overturned.

One of the passengers - a woman - suffered serious but 'non-life-threatening' injuries, Cheshire Police confirmed.
