The fountain in Trafalgar Square became 'blood red' after dye was poured into it during a protest against animal farming and meat-eating.

Campaign group Animal Rebellion performed the stunt in central London on Saturday claiming that the Government has "blood on their hands".

Video footage shows a small number of activists holding placards as they take part in the socially-distanced protest before a woman is seen in the dyed water holding up her hands which are also red.

Demonstrators, some of whom who stood up to their knees in the red water, claim that the coronavirus pandemic was caused by animal exploitation.
