Maganov had been the chairman of major Russian oil supplier, LUKOIL, since 2020, and had been awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky in 2019 by alleged close pal Vladimir Putin.He had been in senior positions within the company, which has served a number of major European countries including Germany, since joining the board in the early 1990s.There has been no official statement on the cause of death, however an initial report from MASH media which has links to Russian law enforcement claims "he threw himself out of the window", indicating suicide.Police are reported to be working at the scene following the death.The late energy tycoon leaves behind a brother, Nail Maganov, 64, who is the head of another oil company Tatneft after the pair followed in their father's footsteps and entered the oil industry.He was also survived by his wife Fania, the head of an English-speaking school, and his son Ravil, a racecar driver.
