A Salford toddler who was the subject of two legal battles between her parents and a hospital trust has died in a hospice. Two-year-old Alta Fixsler suffered a severe brain injury at birth, and doctors said she was unable to breathe, eat or drink without sophisticated medical treatment.
The youngster had been on life-sustaining treatment, but the High Court ruled it should be withdrawn, before deciding earlier this month that it should take place at a hospice - against the wishes of Alta's parents.
