Premier League forward Duncan Watmore was once on hand to help three pensioners to safety from the Caribbean Sea after a speedboat carrying him and others was involved in a boat crash.

The ex- Sunderland striker, who joined Middlesbrough on a permanent deal in 2020, was holidaying with then-girlfriend and future wife Sophie when the speedboat was upended by a catamaran which sent passengers flying into the water.

Watmore, who was 23 at the time, then helped his fellow holiday makers out of the sea and back onboard to help them as they waited for the arrival of local coastguards. The Sun reported in 2017 that Watmore rushed to help three pensioners after the scary crash, and they were most grateful for his efforts.

One of trio said: "It was scary, life or death. I'm lucky not to be coming back in a box."Duncan helped everybody to get on to the boat — he couldn't have been nicer."Watmore and his partner were said to have been left shaken by the incident, but thankfully unharmed.HAVE YOUR SAY!
