Janelle Monae Channels 'Gilded Glamour from the Future' for Her Met Gala 2022 Look

The 36-year-old Dirty Computer performer glittered in a black gown by Ralph Lauren that featured a dramatic silver striped cowl hood.
The dress code for the event is “Gilded Glamour” and it’s inspired by the Costume Institute’s exhibition, In America: An Anthology of Fashion.
Guests are asked to “embody the grandeur—and perhaps the dichotomy—of Gilded Age New York,” a period that stretched from 1870 to 1890. Janelle told host La La Anthony of her look: “Gilded glamour was the theme and we did gilded glamour from the future.” The official co-chairs for this year’s event are Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
