Three fighter Brits in Ukraine face death penalty in disgraceful Russian secret trials

READ MORE: Moment sleepy Russian fighter wakes up to Ukrainian soldier standing over him with a gun Harding and Hill were both captured after fighting with Ukrainian armed forces while aid worker Healy was carrying out humanitarian work.News of their trial was released through the Interfax news agency."The court hearing is scheduled for August 15, it will be held behind closed doors," it quoted a representative of the DPR Supreme Court as saying.The agency added that according to DPR law if the defendants are found guilty, they face punishment up to the death penalty.It comes after two other Brits were sentenced to death by the DPR.Aiden Aslin, 28, and Shaun Pinner, 48 - both serving members of Ukraine's army - were tricked into confessing that they were terrorists by a kangaroo court.Hill - a dad-of-four from Plymouth - was paraded in April on Russian TV, with injuries to his head and left arm, as well as what looked like gunshot wounds.Harding, from Sunderland, was captured by Russians as he fought with Ukrainian units in Mariupol.To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.All four Brits fought for Ukraine as part of the country's armed forces and not as mercenaries.

In July, Harding, who is is his 50s, was videoed pleading to Boris Johnson to rescue him as he was forced to record his "last words" to his daughter.
