Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced thousands of claimants on Universal Credit are to get a one-off payment which doesn’t need to be paid back.From Wednesday, July 22, if a person's existing claim for income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Income Support ends due to them applying for Universal Credit, then they will receive a payment worth up to two weeks of their legacy award.The one-time payment is known as a 'run-on' and aims to help claimants adjust financially during their first assessment period.The money will be paid automatically to claimants applying to Universal Credit for the first time, Chronicle Live reports.Minister for Welfare Delivery Will Quince.
