New Universal Credit changes are now in effect with thousands of claimants to receive one-off payment

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed claimants who are moving on to Universal Credit will receive up to two weeks of extra money that doesn’t need to be paid back.

The one-off, lump sum payment is for those switching from one of the six legacy benefits that Universal Credit is gradually replacing.
