Frank Lampard has had a successful first season as Chelsea manager. The Blues secured their place in next season’s Champions League with a fourth-place finish in the Premier League, and will contest the FA Cup final against Arsenal on Saturday.
Yet while Lampard should feel content with his team’s achievements in 2019/20, he’ll know that expectations will be a great deal higher next term.
Lampard won pretty much all there was to win during his time as a player at Stamford Bridge, and top-four finishes won’t be enough for him or his bosses forever.
Chelsea have already significantly strengthened their squad ahead of next season with the additions of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
