She has now defended her actions to BuzzFeed News."I know how I could easily have moved in the direction of becoming a dictator myself," she said."If certain circumstances of my life were different, were I a little less bent toward healing and more toward vindication, I could have been a darkly powerful person."The actress's odd poem – which she shared on Twitter - started "Dear Mister President Vladimir Putin..." and saw her suggesting the politician could have grown up to be a different person if she was his mother."If I was your mother you would have been so loved, held in the arms of joyous light, never would this story's plight, the world unfurled before our eyes, a pure demise of nation sitting peaceful under the night sky," she said.AnnaLynne, 34, said she couldn't image the "soul-stealing pain" that Putin must have been in as a child and that she would have died to make him warm if the world was cold."I cannot believe I was born too late, in a different place, when I would have loved you so," she said.The video went viral but triggered a barrage of criticism, with people saying it was "cringeworthy", "incredibly tone deaf" and "embarrassing".Some people advised the actress to get rid of the post and to "pretend it never happened"."The best time to delete this tweet was immediately after sending it, the second best time is now," said one person.Piers Morgan was among those to wade in, tweeting: "This is so cringe I can feel my eyeballs curling up."
