Thousands of people have been evacuated after a lightning strike sparked a major fire near Utah Lake in the US. Around one-third of Saratoga Springs residents have been forced from their homes, with Westlake High School being used as an evacuation point.
In a tweet on Sunday afternoon local time, Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox asked residents to “Be vigilant and be safe” while confirming a lightning strike as the cause of the blaze.
He added: "Evacuating everything south of Grandview Blvd and West of Redwood Road. Approx 1000 homes. Please heed evacuation orders to protect our fire crews." We'll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story.
