Phillip Bryan Schofield (born 1 April 1962) is an English television presenter who works for ITV. He is currently the co-presenter of This Morning (2002–present) and Dancing on Ice (2006–2014, 2018–present) alongside Holly Willoughby. His other work for ITV includes All Star Mr & Mrs (2008–2016), The Cube (2009–2015), and 5 Gold Rings (2017–present). Schofield gained national attention working for the BBC, first as a continuity presenter for Children's BBC on weekdays from 1985 to 1987, then as a presenter on the children's Saturday morning magazine show Going Live! between September 1987 and April 1993.

This Morning fans outraged as The Staircase's Michael Peterson appears on ITV sofa

This Morning fans have blasted the ITV show's decision to invite The Staircase's Michael Peterson live in studio.The 78-year-old was famously convinced of the murder of his wife Kathleen Peterson in 2001 after she was found dead at the bottom of the stairs in their house.In 2017, Michael entered an Alford plea to the voluntary manslaughter of Kathleen despite maintaining his innocence and he was released from prison for time served.

Kathleen's death famously became the subject of true crime documentary The Staircase, which aired on Netflix and was recently made into a HBO miniseries with Colin Firth and Toni Collette.On Wednesday (May 25), Michael appeared live on the This Morning sofa.While viewers were informed of Michael's appearance ahead of time, many hadn't anticipated that he would appear live in studio.Posting to Twitter, some fans expressed their surprise that Michael had joined Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on the This Morning sofa and others slammed the decision.One disgruntled viewer wrote: "Why are they giving airtime to a man convicted of killing his wife?"Another fan commented: "Why is someone who's convicted of manslaughter allowed to come and tell their story? "What an insult to the victim and her family."Meanwhile, a third said: "My mind is [blown that] This Morning has Michael Peterson on!" A fourth aggrieved viewer said: "Wasn't actually expecting him to be there in the studio!"A fifth added: "This Morning why would you have that awful man Peterson on your show?
