The 19-year-old daughter of footballer Michael Owen was seated fireside with Davide Sanclimenti when she quizzed her fellow contestant as to whether or not he would have stepped forwards and picked her given the choice.
Unwilling to be drawn on the subject, Davide dodged the question, to which Gemma replied: "I don't like competition. I want to be first, not second.
I won’t be second." The comment quickly confused viewers at home as they pointed out that Gemma was appearing on a dating show with other people.
