Firefighters were called to a car park off Gould Street on the northern outskirts of the city after 5.30pm on Sunday. The blaze caused a lot of black smoke around the Red Bank area.
Two fire crews spent about an hour at the scene putting out the flames. It's thought the vehicle involved is a box van. It's not known what it's carrying or what caused the fire.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crews from Manchester Central and Philip's Park are on the scene. "They are using a hose reel and breathing apparatus." Get breaking
