'They need it more than we do': Company boss offers his car park to NHS staff working at Wythenshawe Hospital

The Timpson Group have opened their site car park for NHS staff working at Wythenshawe Hospital. The retailer’s Chief Executive, James Timpson announced he would be opening the car park, based opposite the hospital, free of charge.

In a post on Twitter, Mr Timpson wrote: “We have given our office car park over to the staff at Wythenshawe Hospital.” “They need it more than we do at the moment,” he added.

It comes as the Government announced they would be calling on retired health professionals to help combat the spread of coronavirus.

On Thursday, the number of cases of COVID-19 surpassed the 100 mark in Greater Manchester - with the true figure thought to be much higher.
