Energy efficiency upgrades will be made to more than 150 public buildings and council-owned leisure centres as part of a project to make the city-region carbon neutral.
The funding will be provided as part of the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. £19.1 m of the funding, the largest council allocation, will be used to retrofit 11 leisure buildings with energy saving measures, such as renewable energy generation, LED lighting and switching heating systems from gas to electricity.
