Hundreds of people turned out to the 'Kill the Bill' rally in Manchester city centre on Saturday afternoon, to protest the new crime and policing bill.
Earlier in the day, Greater Manchester Police said the demonstration had been 'largely peaceful' and 'contained.' But by late afternoon, the mood shifted and footage showed police move in on a small number of protesters who had blocked the tram tracks at St Peter's Square.
