The Government turned its back on beauty during lockdown - our campaign made them see its worth

finally - the beauty industry can reopen on Monday, July 13. The sector was left out in the cold when hairdressers were given the green light to reopen on July 4, with thousands of businesses left furious at the government’s last-minute decision to separate the reopening of the two sectors.

Am I over the moon that the beauty industry can get back to work now? Absolutely. But I am still treading a thin line between being baffled and outraged as to why it took the government so excruciatingly long to announce a date.

It’s not an industry to be sniffed at, either: beauty is worth almost £30bn to the UK economy, which is more than the car manufacturing industry.
