He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Brits pining for pints down the pub during lockdown face long wait, warns health boss

One of the UK's top health chiefs has warned that boozers up and down the country might be some of the last establishments to open as the coronavirus lockdown is lifted.

Speaking at the daily Downing Street press conference on Saturday, Dr Jenny Harries, England's deputy chief medical officer, said Brits should avoid a pub visit for the foreseeable future.

That's because the virus can survive longer inside. While being outside is generally safer, people's actions and how they get to their destination will be important, Dr Harries warned.

Acknowledging lots of people are keen to get back to the pub, Dr Harries added that not going is the best way to reduce the risk of catching and spreading Covid-19.
