Scotland coach Austin MacPhee insists Steve Clarke’s side should be aiming for better than just qualification for Euro 2024 - they should be targeting history.
MacPhee is convinced Clarke has a Premier League quality squad at his disposal and that expectations should be to become the first Scottish team to reach the knockout stage of a major tournament.
Scotland travel to face Cyprus on Friday night knowing a win and results elsewhere in Group A over the next two weeks could clinch our spot in Germany next year.
A perfect first round of fixtures which included wins over Spain and Norway leaves the Scots top of the group.And set piece coach MacPhee said: “If and when we qualify I’ll be happy but I won’t be celebrating for a week because I believe there’s a bigger capacity with this team.
