The 1% Club's Lee Mack 'very grateful' as BBC sitcom is renewed for 14th season

The 1% Club presenter Lee Mack is over the moon as his BBC sitcom 'Not Going Out' is set to return for a fabulous 14th season in 2025, and he can't help but express his gratitude for the show's longevity.

After an incredible 18 years since its debut, Lee still finds working on the series a "dream come true." He shared his excitement, saying: "Once again I'm very grateful that the BBC have trusted in us to keep alive the studio sitcom." Lee reminisced about his own experiences watching BBC sitcoms and feels honoured to contribute to the genre: "I grew up watching this genre of sitcom on the BBC, and to be part of it myself is still a dream come true, even after 18 years of doing it.

Here we go again...! ! " The show has made quite the impression, celebrating its 100th episode with the 2023 Christmas special and holding the title of the longest running UK sitcom currently on air.

Jon Petrie, the BBC's Director of Comedy, couldn't hide his admiration for the show, stating: "'Not Going Out' remains one of the UK's most cherished sitcoms, a true testament to the exceptional comedic talents of Lee and his team." He praised the show's enduring success and popularity, adding: "The show's consistent success and popularity speak volumes, and we are beyond chuffed about its return." Meanwhile, Jon Thoday from Avalon, who serves as Executive Producer, expressed his delight at the BBC's commitment to the studio sitcom format and praised Lee Mack's mastery of comedy. "We are delighted to see the BBC keep the fire of the studio sitcom alive and it is a privilege to work with Lee Mack, who is a true master of his craft, as well as the excellent team on the show," he said.
