A teenager accused of murdering a 'vulnerable' drug addict said he only heard about his death after being arrested, a court has heard.
Jacob Cookson, 18, denies the murder of 48-year-old Leigh Smith in an alleged revenge attack. Prosecutors have claimed that Mr Smith was killed in 'retaliation' after Mr Cookson had been attacked and robbed of £2,500. Jurors have been told that Mr Smith was a victim of 'cuckooing', when drug dealers take over someone's home. He was stabbed seven times and bled to death on his living room floor.
