A teenager accused of murdering teaching assistant Lindsay Birbeck has admitted helping to dispose of her body - but claimed an unnamed man had carried out the killing.
The 17-year-old suspect today claimed he had been approached by a stranger who offered to pay him to 'get rid of a body'. In a prepared statement, he said he was not present when Mrs Birbeck died, Lancs Live reports.
Jurors in the 17-year-old's trial were today told he has pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of assisting an offender in the removing and disposal of Mrs Birbeck’s body.
The defendant - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - denies murdering the mum-of-two and a new charge of manslaughter.
