Sex Pistols’ bassist Glen Matlock played an updated version of ‘God Save The Queen’ yesterday (May 6) to coincide with King Charles III’s coronation.The show took place at London’s 100 Club to support the release of his new album ‘Consequences Coming‘, which was released last week. Announcing the gig, Matlock wrote: “I wonder what kind of warrant I’ll get?! Come on down to the 100 Club this Saturday and find out.”Ahead of the show the bassist said that he would not be changing the lyrics to Sex Pistols’ iconic protest anthem ‘God Save The Queen’ because it was proving tricky to make the new lines rhyme.

The Clash’s Paul Simonon has stated that he wouldn’t have reunited the band for £1million.The iconic punk bassist has explained that while the members were contemplating a reunion in the ‘90s – after parting ways in 1986 – there were numerous reasons why the prospect never materialised, including his feud with bandmate Mick Jones.“There was talk between me, Joe [Strummer], Mick and Mick’s manager, Gary Kurfirst, who was looking after Mick in B.A.D. Dream Wife have released their new single ‘Orbit’ from their forthcoming third album ‘Social Lubrication’ – as well as announcing details of a UK and US tour.‘Orbit’, produced by Dream Wife guitarist Alice Go and mixed by Alan Moulder, is a defiant song which they say was “written through the joy of jamming together and locking into the groove like a multi-limbed space-age organism.”They continued: “‘Orbit’ has a dance rock edge from the early ’00s of bands like New Young Pony Club and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Rancid have announced plans to release new album ‘Tomorrow Never Comes’ this summer.The US punk-rock band’s 10th studio LP will come out on June 2 via Epitaph Records and is their first since 2017’s ‘Trouble Maker’.As a first taster, the band have shared the title track from their forthcoming album, the video for which you can view below.The record, which will feature 16 tracks, coincides with their forthcoming UK and European tour which kicks off in Italy at Slam Dunk on the same day the album is released.The tour was set to call at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on June 20, but it has now been upgraded to the OVO Arena Wembley on the same date.The band will also play a second gig at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester the following night (June 21).

Blink-182 brought their reunion to the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Friday (April 15). Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker performed live together for the first time since 2015 at the annual festival in a surprise slot that was announced on the eve of Coachella.

Public Image Ltd have announced their first new album in eight years and an accompanying UK tour for later in the year.The album, titled ‘End Of World’, is set for release on August 11 and is dedicated to frontman John Lydon‘s late wife Nora Forster, who died last week at the age of 80. She had been living with Alzheimer’s disease for five years and Lydon had been her full-time carer.‘End Of World’ features the song ‘Hawaii’ as its closing track, which Lydon had written as a “love letter” to Forster. The band had used the song in their bid to represent Ireland at this year’s  Eurovision Song Contest, but they lost out to Dublin quarter Wild Youth.“Nora loved the album, she wouldn’t have wanted us to postpone it or change any of our plans,” Lydon said in a press release.

Sex Pistols‘ Glen Matlock has said he was “very disappointed” with the Pistol television series.Pistol premiered on Hulu and Disney+ on May 31 last year. It starred Anson Boon as Johnny Rotten, Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook and Christian Lees as Glen Matlock among a cast line-up that also includes Maisie Williams. It was based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol and was directed Danny Boyle.In a new interview with The Metal Voice, which you can watch below, Matlock said he was “very disappointed in it, actually, considering I had meetings with Danny Boyle about it.”He continued: “I’m not disappointed that it came out, and I thought it was important that it went ahead because it was based on Steve’s story and take on things.

John Lydon’s wife Nora Forster has died.Her passing was announced earlier today on social media. The former Sex Pistols singer – who went by the name Johnny Rotten – had devoted his time to being her full-time carer.Uploaded on the official Public Image Ltd (PiL) Instagram page, the post shared a photograph of Lydon and Forster together and asked fans to “respect John’s grief” by giving him space.“Rest in Peace Nora Forster,” it read. “It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Nora Forster – John Lydon’s wife of nearly 5 decades – has passed away.”“Nora had been living with Alzheimer’s for several years.

Pussy Riot member Nadya Tolokonnikova has reportedly been identified on a list of Russian authorities’ “most wanted” criminal suspects.According to the Associated Press, Tolokonnikova – a founding member of the feminist punk group, which has long been controversial in their native Russia for their incitive protests against Vladimir Putin’s regime – was first spotted in the Russian Interior Ministry’s database of criminal targets on Wednesday (March 29). The revelation reportedly came via Russian news outlet Mediazona, which was co-founded by Tolokonnikova.It’s said that Tolokonnikova’s listing in the database shows her wanted for “criminal charges”, however these are not disclosed in any significant detail.

Rancid, Operation Ivy, Trash Talk and The Bronx have come together to form a new project called Bad Optix – check out their debut single ‘Raid’.The new ska-punk band was formed by Jesse Michaels and Rancid guitarist Tim Armstrong, both of whom performed together previously as part of ’80s band Operation Ivy.Joey Castillo (Circle Jerks, The Bronx) and bassist Spencer Pollard (Trash Talk) are also enlisted to complete the supergroup. Today (March 29) they’ve shared their debut single ‘Raid’.Described as an “anti-authoritarian anthem”, the track hears the band combine influences from ska artists including The Specials and The Beat with elements of punk.“‘Raid’ is about every person’s spiritual autonomy from the powers that be, regardless of who they are or what their particular struggle is,” Michaels said in a statement.
