Taylor Russell and Jenna Ortega reportedly in talks for ‘Single White Female’ remake
Jenna Ortega are reportedly in talks for a Single White Female remake.Per The Hollywood Reporter, 3000 Pictures is looking to remake the 1992 psycho-sexual thriller that originally starred Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh, with Russell and Ortega slated to star and produce the reimagining. Thus far, Sony, who have a deal with the film company, has offered no comment on the project. In the original, Fonda played Allison, a woman who takes in Hedra (Leigh) as a roommate while she recovers from a breakup, with Hedra’s behaviour becoming increasingly obsessional and violent. The horror drama was followed up with Single White Female 2: The Psycho in 2005, which starred Kristen Miller.Ortega is no stranger to starring in freakier films, with the Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star currently promoting her new film Death Of A Unicorn – an A24 comedy horror in which she stars as the daughter of Paul Rudd’s Elliot, who accidentally runs over and kills a unicorn. As well as her turn in Death Of A Unicorn, Ortega is set to appear in Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist alongside Charli XCX, Natalie Portman and Catherine Zeta-Jones.Waves star Russell meanwhile, earned praise for her turn in Luca Guadagnino’s cannibal love story, Bones and All.In NME’s four-star-review, critic Nick Levine wrote that the film “balances some gut-wrenchingly grim and gory scenes with moments of genuine tenderness,” adding that it helped that Russell and Timothée Chalamet had “an easy chemistry that deepens with the narrative”.Before then, the second season of Wednesday is set to arrive on Netflix before the end of 2025.

Watch MJ Lenderman and his Wednesday bandmate Karly Hartzman separately cover Counting Crows’ ‘A Long December’
MJ Lenderman treated his fans to a cover of Counting Crow‘s ‘A Long December’ at his show last week. The musician took over The Orange Peel in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina last Friday (December 20), as one of his rescheduled shows due to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene back in October. The show was in support of his latest album ‘Manning Fireworks‘ and saw him and his band – The Wind, which features Lenderman’s Wednesday bandmate Xandy Chelmis – play a string of tracks from that LP including ‘Joker Lips’, ‘Rudolph’, ‘Wristwatch’ and more.To close out the gig, Lenderman treated the crowd to a rendition of Counting Crows‘ 1996 track ‘A Long December’, a fitting song considering the natural disaster North Carolina had recently faced. As per Stereogum, his cover followed his other Wednesday bandmate, vocalist Karly Hartzman performing her own rendition of ‘A Long December’. The moment took place during a gig at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina on December 17, where she was joined by Wednesday bassist Ethan Baechtold.Unlike Lenderman’s version, which felt true to the original song, Hartzman took a stripped-back approach and performed an acoustic version of the track, making the song much more emotional than it already is.The track was first released on December 2 1996 as the second single from Counting Crows’ second album ‘Recovering the Satellites’.
