The Pigeon Detectives have announced new single ‘Lovers Come and Lovers Go’, their first new music since 2016 – listen below.Produced by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral, Oscar Lang), the track is a high-energy, indie-rock offering that celebrates the core sound the band first emerged with.“This song encapsulates the raw energy and catchiness The Pigeon Detectives have built our reputation on, whilst evolving our sound to reflect where we are as people at this stage in our lives,” the band said in a press statement.“It’s a celebration of everything the band were, are and hope to be in the future. Angel Olsen is set to release a new EP and she has shared the first taster from the record ‘Nothing’s Free’.Entitled ‘Forever Means’, the EP, which will be released digitally and on vinyl on April 14 via Jagjaguwar, “collects songs” from recording sessions from her last album ‘Big Time’ that “hold a common theme: within the wisdom borne from the twin stars of grief and love comes the realisation that there is no finish line, no destination or static end point to life while you’re living it,” according to a press release. Mumford & Sons have been announced as the final headline act for this summer’s Victorious Festival.The event is due to take place on the Southsea seafront in Portsmouth between August 25-27. Sleaford Mods have released a new single, ‘So Trendy’, which features guest vocals by Jane’s Addiction‘s Perry Farrell.‘So Trendy’ is the latest cut from the duo’s new album, ‘UK Grim‘, released this Friday (March 10).The track is described in press material as “an insistent electro mirror on a world obsessed by looking into their phones and manipulating the visual echoes coming back”.Sleaford Mods’ vocalist Jason Williamson explained of the link-up with Farrell. “Perry got in touch and said he wanted to work with us.

Jenny Lewis has released the music video for her previously released single, ‘Puppy And A Truck‘ – and it features a cameo from Harry Styles.The visuals feature snapshots from Lewis’ run of North American dates as special guest of Styles’ ‘Love On Tour’ in 2021.Lewis said in a statement: “To be on a giant stage in front of thousands of people after such a long period of isolation, those 45 minutes on stage and meeting Harry’s fans – it brought me back to life.“I was just trying to stay present and in the moment, so grateful to be able to share my life experiences, my songs, with such a diverse audience. Damon Albarn has recalled his first encounter with The Specials’ Terry Hall in a new interview, calling the late star “the coolest human being on earth”.Hall died in December 2022 after being diagnosed with cancer months earlier. Elliott Smith in high school between 1985 and 1989 have surfaced online.The albums feature Smith and the friends he was in bands with as a teenager, playing under names including Stranger Than Fiction, A Murder Of Crows, and Harum Scarum.The six newly-surfaced records were obtained and distributed by a fan of Smith’s from Texas called Cameron McCrary. The fan contacted local record stores in Portland, where Smith spent much of his life, and hunted on Discogs to find the albums.

Glastonbury has renamed the John Peel Stage and announced a new area ahead of this summer’s festival.Formerly known as the New Bands Tent, the venue was rebranded in 2004 in tribute to late Radio 1 DJ and Glastonbury friend Peel following his death that year. Notable past sets on the stage include The Killers, Calvin Harris, Florence + The Machine and The xx.Today (March 3), Emily Eavis revealed in a new interview with the Guardian that the John Peel Stage will be known as ‘Woodsies’ from 2023 onwards.

Chvrches have spoken to NME about their new single ‘Over’, the “pressure” of stepping up to play stadiums with Coldplay, and how they’re preparing to mark their 10th year together as a band.The Scottish trio – comprising Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty – released the anthemic standalone track last Friday (February 24) before confirming three UK headline dates for this summer.“It’s sort of like a little miniature era between [2021 album] ‘Screen Violence’ and whatever the next year ends up being,” Mayberry told NME of ‘Over’, which was helmed by Swedish producer Oscar Holter (The Weeknd, Coldplay and BTS, Charli XCX).“I guess normally we kind of strictly abide by the album format and the album campaign format, and we’ll collect songs over the course of months and years, and then make a record.”While pointing to a yet-to-be-determined future, ‘Over’ harks back to the classic Chvrches sound as Mayberry seeks an escape from a period of personal turmoil (“It’s getting harder to breathe/ So, baby, put me to sleep/ ‘Til it gets better). Glastonbury Festival has announced the first line-up for its 2023 edition, with Arctic Monkeys and Guns N’ Roses named as the final two headliners.Alex Turner and co. are due to top the Pyramid Stage for the third time on Friday, June 23 ahead of GnR making their Worthy Farm debut the following night (June 24).

Aaron Dessner has opened up about his experience of working with Ed Sheeran on the latter’s upcoming fifth album, ‘-‘ (‘Subtract’).Sheeran announced the 14-track record earlier this week, saying that it reflects his “deepest darkest thoughts” against a backdrop of personal turmoil.“It’s opening the trapdoor into my soul,” the singer-songwriter explained. “For the first time I’m not trying to craft an album people will like, I’m merely putting something out that’s honest and true to where I am in my adult life.”The National’s Dessner teamed up with Sheeran on writing and production for the LP.
