It secured the second-biggest global opening weekend of the year following another Universal title, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($377 million). Even though “Fast X” arrived on the higher end of projections, the action-adventure saga has been experiencing diminishing returns in North America. In terms of opening weekend ticket sales, the 10th chapter landed behind the latest entry, 2021’s “F9: The Fast Saga,” which kicked off to $70 million. And that was at a time when COVID era restrictions meant only 80% of theaters were open and attendance hadn’t yet rebounded. Pre-pandemic “Fast” installments were far bigger in their starts, including 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious” ($98 million debut), 2015’s “Furious 7” (a series-high $148 million debut) and 2013’s “Fast and Furious 6” ($97 million debut).

Ellise Shafer John Cena is reflecting on his WWE feud with Dwayne Johnson, admitting to being “short-sighted and selfish” in the situation. On the May 18 episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cena said he “really messed up” by feuding with Johnson between 2011 and 2013 when he returned to WWE after leaving nearly a decade earlier to pursue a full-time acting career. Of course, now both Cena and Johnson are major Hollywood stars, with Cena playing the brother of Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto in the newly-released “Fast X” and Johnson headlining the upcoming action-adventure film “Red One” alongside Chris Evans. “I got selfish, and me living WWE at the point and not having any concept of growth or someone else’s perspective, I took Dwayne’s comments as not genuine,” Cena said. “My view was, if you love something, be there everyday. What a hypocrite I am, because I still love WWE and I can’t go all the time. And I just didn’t see that, I was so selfish.”

But he says he is officially ready to retire the character. “Is it not evident?” the 80-year-old actor joked at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday’s press conference for the action-adventure. “I need to sit down and rest a little bit.” In returning to the character for one last time, Ford expressed a desire to see “a completion of the five films.” He added, “I wanted to see the weight of life on him. I wanted to see him require reinvention. I wanted him to have a relationship that wasn’t a flirty movie relationship.

Private Division has announced a new partnership with Pokémon developer Game Freak for “a brand-new action-adventure IP.”Codenamed Project Bloom, the title is an “ambitious” title and is in early development but is expected to launch during Take-Two‘s fiscal year 2026.Not much has been shared about the upcoming game, but the publisher and developer revealed the first piece of concept art showing a character carrying katana in a lush forest. Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler reunited for their new Netflix film Murder Mystery 2, to the delight of their fans, but the reviews for the detective comedy are mixed.  The co-stars and pals have reprised their roles as married couple Nick and Audrey Spitz, who are now full-time private detectives after finding themselves caught up in a murder investigation in 2019's Murder Mystery.  In the sequel directed by Jeremy Garelick, the Spitzes are invited to the destination wedding of the Maharajah Vikram Govindan (Adeel Akhtar), but they are forced to go into detective mode when he is kidnapped before the ceremony.

When Allen isn’t working on “Grey’s Anatomy,” she’s leading her dance academy and middle school — both of which are based in Los Angeles. She offers a slew of programming aimed at educating kids (some of whom are as young as 3 years old) in academics and the arts. Her academy’s “Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” has become a popular holiday staple. Previously, Allen showcased the preparation process for the big show with members of her dance academy in Netflix’s “Dance Dreams” documentary in 2020.

The official story trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has finally been released, and it has fans so “pumped” they are “pinching” themselves. EA’s Respawn Entertainment dropped the video on Monday (March 20), and gave gamers a closer look at the action-adventure video game set in a galaxy far, far away.

South By Southwest during the Empowering the Next Generation to Build a Better Future featured session. “Asali: Power of The Pollinators,” is an animated action-adventure short film that follows honey bee Asali after she meets a group of pollinators and a human environmental scientist. The unlikely group slowly saves Asali, her family and their home from a deadly monstrous force. Penn stars alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Monique Coleman (“High School Musical”), Ronen Rubinstein (“9-1-1 Lone Star”), Joy Ofodu (Mighty Express) and activist Lupita Pineda. Viola Davis and Julius Tennon serve as executive producers. In addition to starring and directing the short, Penn is also animating and producing the film with her production company Upenndo! Productions.

Brendan Fraser remembered a terrifying ordeal while working on the set of the 1999 action-adventure flick, "The Mummy." Fraser, 54, starred as American adventurer Rick O'Connell in the Stephen Sommers movie, which spawned multiple sequels and spinoffs.  "Was this the one where you almost died?" Kelly Clarkson asked Fraser on her self-titled talk show.   "Nearly … well, I was choked out accidentally," he said.

Universal’s gruesome action-comedy “Cocaine Bear” won’t come close to “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in terms of weekend ticket sales, but the drugged-up animal adventure is expected to start strong at the domestic box office. “Cocaine Bear” hopes to take in $15 million to $17 million from 3,500 North American theaters, with a chance that positive buzz could propel initial returns to $20 million. The wild R-rated movie was budgeted at roughly $35 million, which was mostly dedicated to the CGI used to bring to life the coked-out grizzly alongside the human cast of Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Alden Ehrenreich, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Brooklynn Prince. Elizabeth Banks directed “Cocaine Bear,” which is one of today’s rare original theatrical comedies. (But viewers, beware, it’s not exactly a laugh-a-minute romp… unless you’re tickled by blood, blood and more blood.) Inspired by a stranger-than-fiction story about a drug runner’s plane crash, the film imagines the events that would have transpired if the American black bear that ingested a duffle bag full of blow had lived to tell the tale.

BreAnna Bell “Blood & Treasure” won’t be returning for a third season at CBS or Paramount+, Variety has confirmed. The action-adventure drama followed an antiquities expert Danny McNamara and a cunning art thief Lexi Vaziriwho teamed up to catch a cold-blooded terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure. “When terrorist Karim Farouk absconds with a priceless artifact and kidnaps Danny’s mentor Dr. Anna Castillo, Danny recruits Lexi to help him bring Farouk to justice and rescue Anna. As they chase down Farouk, they encounter unscrupulous individuals who may either be useful allies or dangerous enemies, including Aiden Shaw, an arms dealer who acts solely in his self-interest, and Simon Hardwick, an expert at procuring pilfered artifacts,” reads the official series description.
