Stranger burst into house, raped girl and forced her mum to watch

A teenage girl and her mother have described the 'emotional trauma' they experienced after a man forced his way into their home and brutally raped them both, while threatening to stab them.

Joshua Carney, 28, who was a stranger, forced his way into the home of his two victims on March 1, 2022, just five days after being released on licence for a spate of burglaries in 2017.

He has 47 previous offences to his name. Cardiff Crown Court heard how Mr Carney raped both mother and daughter repeatedly over a 15 minute period, all while telling the mother: "Tell me I'm your husband," reports WalesOnline. READ MORE: Police find leading criminal sitting on huge stash after swooping on Audi on M6 Mr Carney, of Cardiff, pushed his way into the home where both the mother and daughter lived at just before 7am, in a "dishevelled and chaotic" state.

The mother told the court that as soon as she saw him she "knew he was danger". Carney was described by Ieuan Bennett, acting for the prosecution, as having no shoes, blood coming from both ears, and clearly in an intoxicated state.
